Uplifting Item

This morning’s Wall Street Journal has quite a big article about Tyler Shultz, grandson of former Secretary of State George Shultz. If you have a chance, look at it. It gives you hope about the younger generation. People like this counter the despair engendered by seeing what’s going on at college campuses after the election.

Ahead of the Curve

Sometimes, failing to clean properly is an asset. I was looking at a notebook (yes, for certain things I still prefer an old-fashioned notebook to a computer) from last year’s boating trip and out fell a New Yorker article from 2014 hailing the entrepreneurial work of scientific genius Elizabeth Holmes. I imagine that some who questioned her methods and claims were accused of being afraid of strong, intelligent women.

Feminist Foibles

I am so tired of the anti-female card being played. While I missed seeing the Clinton and Trump interviews on September 7th, reports I read suggest that interviewer Matt Lauer is the latest victim of a gender attack. My daughter, who did see the interviews reported that Hillary seemed angry at being asked tough questions and inauthentic in her replies, while Donald seemed authentic but bizarre. I accept that as an honest review.

Yet, the press I read focused on Matt Lauer’s lack of fairness and sexism.
