AAJC 2022 Update
Dear Friend—
Thank you for your generous support of the American Alliance of Jews and Christians (AAJC) these past few difficult years. Whatever we have accomplished and however we have helped our Happy Warriors to keep on building has been possible only through your gifts.
American artist Charles E. Burchfield painted this watercolor, Pyramid of Fire. It makes me feel hopeless as I see a wildly burning house. Great red flames fill the structure and climb towards the smoke-filled sky. Clearly nothing can be salvaged from this conflagration. There are only two firemen who seem impotent, the furious fire almost mocking their tiny stream of water. A group of about a dozen people stand immobile watching the disaster and they also appear incapable of stopping the destruction…

Many of us feel the gloom that this painting elicits. For some, it is watching your carefully accumulated savings being eroded at the rate of perhaps 1% per month by inflation caused by evil monetary policies. For others, it is seeing how the education of your children and grandchildren was neglected, and listening to false teachings about the pandemic. The governmental power grab of the past few years and the abolition of many foundational and constitutional freedoms is part of the malaise.
In whatever country in the world you live, there is a struggle going on. It is between a university-centric elite power structure constituting the rulers and the ordinary people who just want to be left alone to build their lives in peace and prosperity. It is between those who would like to see the world ruled by an international clique of powerful leaders and those patriots of many lands who love their countries and do not wish to yield sovereignty. It is between those who see the strength of a society rooted in its families; men and women married to one another and devoted to one another and to the children they are raising and those who see the destruction of that traditional family structure as vital to their political aims. It is between secular humanists who celebrate the infallibility of man and those who remain faithful to the God-given Biblical vision of human society and morality. It is between those who nurture secret dreams of socialism and those who believe in economic freedom as passionately as they believe in political freedom.
In other words, we are working at defending civilization against the barbarism that took over America in the summer of 2020 and which has turned urban streets into sheltered habitats for violent criminals. And defending civilization means defending the Judeo-Christian values and strengthening the conviction of those in whose hearts those values dwell.
Right now, it looks to many as if the struggle is going the wrong way. It looks as if the fire is about to consume us and all we have built. But it doesn’t have to turn out that way. Charles Burchfield painted his depressing work in 1929 at the start of the Great Depression. I am sure it reflects how he felt. But had he done another painting only ten years later, in 1939 when America was racing to build huge buildings, grand dams, and awe-inspiring bridges, it would have looked quite different. Things can change and we can help bring about that change.
With your help, we will continue to stand for what is right and for those values that build and sustain civilization. The assault on civilization is international—it always has been. The song that represents this assault is called the Internationale, the anthem is John Lenon’s Imagine and the utopian vision is the lumbering edifice of the United Nations.
For that reason, during 2023 we shall open the International Alliance of Jews and Christians to enable and encourage Happy Warriors around the world to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with one another and to strengthen one another as they each do their part in strengthening society built on the enduring values of Jerusalem.
Here at the AAJC, we shall continue making resources available and sponsoring events for Happy Warriors. We shall help provide the intellectual and spiritual ammunition to prop up the bulwarks of our culture and will never back down. We look forward to a 2023 in which we all see the dawn of a bright new tomorrow. We so appreciate you making it possible for us to do all we can do.
