Always Bad News

Our friend, Michael Medved, often points out that the media thrives on bad news. This can give you a skewed and pessimistic view of life. I had to chuckle when I saw the Wall Street Journal main headline today, “Dollar Rise Triggers Global Turmoil.” Not, “The Dollar Is Doing Great,” or “Confidence Soars with Trump’s Election,” but instead a negative view of the dollar doing well. A great reminder not to overdose on the news.

  1. Too much media intake makes it hard to live out Paul’s exhortation:
    Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Phillipians 4:8-9

  2. The media refuses to learn its lesson and continue to show that it will not really change . This will eventually create demand for news with positive integrity .

    1. To be fair, that is what the consumer is demanding. “Everything is wonderful today,” doesn’t grab attention more than once.
